Admissions Checklist

It's easy to apply to SBU-Springfield! Use the checklist below to learn what steps you need to take for admission and enrollment at SBU.

1) Apply Online

Complete your application for admission to Southwest Baptist University. Indicate that you plan to attend the Springfield Campus.

2) Send Official Transcripts

Current high school students or college students with fewer than 12 credit hours completed: Submit your official high school transcripts and test scores, along with any college/university/training school official transcripts. SBU accepts ACT, SAT and CLT test scores.

General University Admission Requirements:

  • 2.5+ cumulative high school GPA on a 4.0 scale
  • 21+ ACT or 1060+ SAT or 68+ CLT composite test score

For transfer students with 12 or more credit hours completed: Submit your official transcripts from all colleges, universities and training programs attended.

Send official transcripts to the SBU Office of the Registrar electronically (registrar@SBUniv.edu) or by mail (1600 University Ave, Bolivar MO 65613).

Please allow 2-3 weeks for transcripts to be received and processed.

3) Visit the SBU-Springfield Campus

If you haven't already, make sure you schedule a visit to SBU-Springfield! 4) Submit Your FAFSA

Submit the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to qualify for state and federal grants, loans and work study financial aid opportunities. The recommended deadline for filing the FAFSA is February 1.

5) Submit Your Intent to Enroll

After you have been admitted to the University and are officially ready to join the SBU family, send in your signed Intent to Enroll form to our office. Completing this step allows you to enroll in courses and saves your sport in our program.

6) Visit the Academic Resource Center (ARC)

An academic advisor will guide you through the process of creating your degree plan, registering for classes and submitting required enrollment documents.

7) Celebrate Being a Bearcat!
